A veneer is a thin shell of tooth-colored material that is bonded to the front surface of teeth. We use veneers to fix a variety of dental problems, including cracks, chips, stains, gaps, uneven alignment, or worn enamel. Even though veneers fall into the cosmetic dentistry category because they assist in making over smiles, they additionally boast protective qualities and may eliminate the necessity for further treatments. Additional benefits involve an improved smile appearance, durability, and a need for little to no removal of tooth structure as compared with crowns.
At Dental Town, we offer several types of veneers to meet our patients’ needs.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are comprised of thin porcelain shells utilized to recreate the natural appearance of teeth, while additionally offering resilience and strength comparable to natural teeth enamel. Often, it’s the material of choice for the ones who want to make small position changes or to alter tooth color, size, and/or shape.
Composite Veneers
Composite resin veneers can be completed in one visit. Enough tooth structure is removed to allow for placement of the veneers in without adding tooth bulk. A bonding agent is applied. Composite resin is then added, cured with a special light, and polished.
Typically, composite veneers are more conservative as less tooth structure has to be removed. They are often used when smaller changes are necessary.
eMax Veneers
eMax porcelain veneers are thought to be the best full-porcelain veneers presently available in the world. They look beautiful and show off the natural shine and translucence of healthy, ideal teeth. eMax veneers are made of lithium disilicate glass ceramic, which is strong and offers exceptional aesthetics. eMax veneers may be color-matched to existing teeth for smooth, natural integration to your smile, and they also can be fabricated to the color and shade of your ideal, desired smile!
To prepare for veneers, the front of your tooth will be shaved down by the dentist in order for the veneers to fit without added tooth bulk. As the eMax veneers are stronger and last longer than traditional porcelain veneers, they’ll require little tooth removal. For dental patients, that means the integrity of your teeth gets preserved, and there’s little-to-no pain experienced within the tooth prep. eMax veneers have a thickness of 0.3 millimeters to 0.5 millimeters, depending on the cosmetic/clinical need. Traditional veneers will have a minimum thickness of 0.5 millimeters and are more susceptible to cracks and chips.
