What to Expect With Tooth Extraction

Your Image Dental team is experienced performing tooth extractions. We will start with a local anesthetic to numb the area where the tooth is to be extracted. If the tooth is impacted, the dentist may need to cut away gum and bone tissue that cover the tooth and then, using forceps, grasp the tooth and extract it from the jaw bone and ligaments. Following the procedure, you will be asked to bite down on a piece of gauze to help create a blood clot. This area should not be disturbed during the healing process.

Rely on Image Dental for all your oral health care needs, from routine checkups to cosmetic dentistry and everything in between. If a tooth extraction is needed, you can have peace of mind knowing that we are experienced in all aspects of dental care. We’re conveniently located in Cicero; give us a call at (708) 863-2000 to schedule your appointment.

Although permanent teeth were meant to last a lifetime, there are a number of reasons why tooth extraction may be needed. Here are some common reasons for teeth extractions:

  • A tooth that is too badly damaged, from trauma or decay, to be repaired
  • Crowded mouth preparing for orthodontia
  • Infection
  • Periodontal (Gum) Disease
